How much time do you spend working on your mindset? How much time do you actually spend thinking about the thoughts that run through your head? Is there a little voice in there telling you that you are not good enough, not clever enough, not pretty enough? Maybe you regularly have negative thoughts running through your head and they are making you feel pretty shit..
I know all about this because I have been there. Negative thoughts can easily take over your mind and before you know it you have spent hours agonising over the fact that you hate your boss, the kids think you’re a shit mother and that idiot cut you up at the lights! You could also be thinking, I’m not strong enough to have this baby, I’m just not good at this…
The thing is, mindset is EVERYTHING, and I mean it when I say absolutely everything. How you chose to think your thoughts has a massive impact on how you move through the world, how you respond to things and how you feel about yourself and those around you.
I love the saying ‘thoughts become things’ and I have this as a motto on my desk. I also have ‘what you focus on expands’ as the other one that beautifully explains the simplicity of the idea that what you put your mind to, and what you think about the most is what you will bring into your life.
Have you ever had that situation where you decide you want something, or you start to think about it (to get pregnant, to buy a new car, to start a course) and suddenly that thing you have been thinking about is EVERYWHERE. When I was buying my car, I started to see the damn thing on every corner and traffic light! When I fell pregnant for the first time I started seeing pregnant women EVERYWHERE. My mind was focussing in on these things and was manifesting the physical things around me. Leading on from this is the notion that having a positive outlook on life is better for you. There is loads of research to back this up too if your one of those people that needs to see the evidence. Just google ‘the evidence of positive thinking’ and a bunch of articles will come up.
What are you attracting into your life…..?
This is the reason I say that your mindset is ruining everything! That may feel a little dramatic, but If you spend a good part of your day thinking negative thoughts, there is a high chance that what you are attracting into your life isn’t that great either. It’s time to start practicing how to think more positively and I know that it’s easier said than done. I want you to start noticing your thought patterns, notice when that little voice is being an arse and tell it to jog on. I will spend the next few blog posts diving deeper into what you can be doing to help shift your mindset, because my dear mindset is everything.
