Get Out Of Your Head And Into Your Body

Hello Beautiful One,

Moving around is really important. When you are early in your pregnancy and not feeling like the back end of a bus, doing things to remain active can reap so many benefits. And even if you DO feel like the back end of a bus later on in your pregnancy, it’s EVEN more important to move your body.

Recently, I have been talking a bit about mindset as this has become a massive part of my own growth over the last few years. One of the things I learned on this journey is that moving my body is SUPER important in helping me to feel good. In fact, I’ve always known this deep down, but never really fully acknowledged how real movement can change my whole outlook…until now.

Moving around shifts your energy, and when you start to move and get into the groove of it you begin to stop thinking about all of the things that are worrying you and keeping you up at night. The concerns about your upcoming birth or that deadline you need to meet before you go on Mat leave, or maybe the kids are doing your head in and all you want to do is curl up in a dark corner, whatever it is there is always something that will pull you into a spiral of anxiety. But there can be moments when it just doesn’t matter. Moments when you chuck it in the ‘fuck it’ bucket and just release and let go.

Movement to music is one way of taking some time out from your head, whilst having some fun FEELING the good feelings in your body. And so we come to your movement of choice. Mine is dance obvs! I love a good boogie and will get up and dance to pretty much anything (much to the dismay of my children lol). I dance around my kitchen these days, but I have been known to throw some shapes on the dance floor!! Here are my (current) 5 that I am listening to, however, this list pretty much changes on a daily basis to be honest J I hope you like them too…

Happy – Pharrell Williams
Jump – Madonna
Incredible – General Levy
Boasty – Wiley, Sean Paul, Stefflon Don – Boasty ft. Idris Elba
LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem

Listening to music (loud) and dancing along allows me to get out of my head and into my body and it can do the same for you too. There are plenty of other ways to create movement in your body, how about walking, running, yoga or swimming….the list is endless! Do what feels comfortable as the end goal is still the same. Feeling into your body when sometimes everything gets stuck in your head is the thing that helps you shift your energy around and become aligned with yourself again when you’re all out of sorts. Trust me, it just feels so good to shake it up in order to better connect to yourself (and baby will enjoy it benefits too!)
