Why should I choose The Calm Birth Method?

This programme has been written by an experienced Hypnotherapist, with vast experience in the areas of pregnancy and child-birth. The Calm Birth School goes way beyond traditional childbirth classes and really makes the parents feel more confident and trusting of the birthing body. The course will also enable you to take more control over your birthing experience. The support provided comes in the form of unlimited phone and email support as well as exclusive membership of the ‘The Calm Birth School Community’ Facebook group where you can meet other parents and practitioners.

When should I start the classes?

Hypnobirthing takes practice, which is essential in order for it to work, so the sooner you start, the more time you have to practice. The majority of women attend classes between week 25 and 30. If you are later in your pregnancy – don’t worry! This course can still be taught as late as 38 weeks in pregnancy – you just need to be dedicated! (Fast track options are available if you are later than 38 weeks)

(Please note – places go very fast so if you want to do this, ring me today. Don’t wait…you might be too late. Classes are small and so places are strictly limited).

I heard Hypnobirthing will give me a pain free birth, is this true?

It is important to remember that pain is experienced by all of us in very different ways. Some women report feeling no pain, whilst others report feeling pain but are able to handle it without drugs, using just the techniques they have learned. Hypnobirthing works on the premise that the techniques you will learn will enable you to produce more of the two main hormones needed to allow the birth to be more comfortable. These are Oxytocin and Endorphins (the strongest painkiller known to mankind!).

What is the effect of Hypnobirthing on my baby?

Hypnobirthing helps mothers to feel calm and relaxed, which can only be a good thing for you and your baby! Hypnobirthing babies are not traumatised from a difficult delivery and are alert upon arrival. They often do not cry at birth and grow into calmer, happier babies.

Can my partner come along to classes?

Of course!! Dads/Birth companions are actively encouraged to come along as they have a large part to play in ensuring you are happy and comfortable during your pregnancy and labour. There are specific jobs that they will need to do, whilst you concentrate on your breathing and visualisations and the course will also help them to be more confident and empowered both during and after the birth of your baby.
